The Village Temple has several committees open to all congregants who are interested in gaining a deeper level of engagement in Temple life and activities. Participating on a committee is a great way to connect with other congregants, while contributing your time and skills in ways that truly make a difference to the congregation. We encourage you to join us in helping to shape our present and future. If you are interested in joining a committee or if you have an idea for a committee that you don’t see listed, please call the Village Temple office.

Religious School

The Religious School Committee meets regularly to assist with general school policy and planning. Committee members facilitate the working of the school by providing input on curriculum and program development and encourage parent participation in holiday programs and special events. Ritual Committee

The Ritual Committee helps to develop congregational policies in the religious practices area that encourage meaningful atmosphere for prayer. As part of this function, we help to educate people about Jewish ritual and liturgy and help to organize special holiday and festival observances. The committee also makes recommendations for the maintenance and acquisition of the prayer books and the synagogue’s ritual objects.

B'nai Mitzvah Committee
The B’nai Mitzvah Committee assists families planning their child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah. A meeting is held each Fall for parents. The committee distributes the Bar/Bat Mitzvah handbook and members are available to talk with parents at any time.

High Holidays Committee

Fundraising Committee
Chair: Jerry Arbittier
The Fundraising Committee organizes events and activities to supplement the dues income of the Temple. Beginning in the Fall, we hold a phonathon targeted for a specific goal. Social Action Committee

The Village Temple’s Social Action Committee is an action and advocacy-oriented group working to integrate Jewish social justice values into the whole life of the congregation. To find out how you can engage with the Temple on Social Action issues, please call the office and make an appointment with the Rabbi.

Caring Committee / Bikkur Cholim
Co-Chairs: Alizah Brozgold / Brenda Lewis
Needed: People who can be there when life throws us a curve ball. Comfort and call on members of the VT community who are hospitalized, staying in residential facilities or ill at home. Volunteers should be good listeners and sharers. Contact Alizah to join this important group:
