Religious School and Youth Groups

From Pre-K through Grade 12, we provide a strong grounding in Jewish ethics, history, texts, Hebrew, culture and ritual. We want our students to feel that Judaism is relevant to their lives, to understand how Jewish principles and belief in social justice can guide them in their relationships within their families, with friends, and with the wider world.

Contact Alex Tansky, Director of Education for more information about our outstanding Religious School program.

Welcome to The Village Temple

The Village Temple is a place for kesher – connection.  It is a home for contemporary Reform Jews who are seeking connections to Torah and the search for spiritual fulfillment, links between past and present and one generation to the next, a bridge between the downtown Reform community with Israel and the world.

We invite all who wish to join us to enter our doors: Jews by birth, Jews by choice, interfaith families. Inside you will find a community of people who are on a quest to reinvigorate Shabbat, holiday worship and Jewish learning, and renew our commitment to tikkun olam through social action and justice.

The Choreography of Prayer: When to Stand, Sit, Turn and Respond - Friday, November 17th

During the current month of Heshvan, there are no Jewish holidays.  For this reason, it is nicknamed Mar Heshvan-- bitter Heshvan. At Village Temple we will sweeten this bitter month with Jewish learning.
At Kabbalat Shabbat services on Friday evening in Heshvan, November 17, Rabbi Hirsch will devote her sermon to exploring and explaining our worship practices and customs.  Do all Jews pray the same way?  Why does it look different when I go to another congregation? I thought we stand for the Shema!  Why didn't they open the ark for Aleinu?  And most importantly, what are The Village Temple's worship customs?  Join us for special worship and learning during Heshvan.
